The invention relates to the integration of a carbonation-calcination cycle (calcium looping) with a closed power loop through which CO2 or mixtures of CO2 with other gases evolve to provide thermochemical storage for power plants and industrial processes, with heat available at a medium temperature (above 550° C). The invention can be used, inter alia, in solar thermal power plants and industrial processes. Using the system developed, operating efficiencies above 46% with a storage capacity having a long time difference between charging and discharging can be achieved.
