The present invention addresses the problem of providing a composition that achieves a high Δn while having a liquid crystal phase over a wide temperature range, and has low viscosity, excellent solubility at low temperatures, and a high specific resistance and voltage retention rate, and is stable with respect to heat and light; and further providing a liquid crystal composition having a superior lens effect and superior chemical stability as a result of using the composition, and a liquid crystal display element and liquid crystal lens in which the liquid crystal composition is used. The present invention provides: a liquid crystal composition containing one or more compounds represented by general formula (i) and one or more compounds represented by general formula (ii); a liquid crystal element in which the liquid crystal composition is used; a liquid crystal lens in which the liquid crystal composition is used; and a birefringent lens for displaying three-dimensional images, in which the liquid crystal composition is used. |
