A lubricant composition suitable for use in drilling operations, comprising: a) about 90.0 to 99.0 wt % of at least one base oil composition, the base oil composition comprising about 1.0 to about 15.0 wt % water, and b) from about 1.0 to about 10.0 wt % of a friction-reducing composition comprising: at least one compound represented by Formula I: wherein each of R1, R2, R3, R4 and R5 is selected from the group consisting of H and branched or unbranched substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl groups; T is selected from the group consisting of O, S and C(O)O groups; and X is selected from H, branched or unbranched, substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl groups, acyl groups having a formula of R*C(O)— wherein R* may be a branched or unbranched, substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl group, an ester group having a formula of R′C(O)O—, where R′ is a branched or unbranched, substituted or unsubstituted C1 to C50 hydrocarbyl group, Group 1-2 metal, NR4+ or PR4+ group, where each R group is independently selected from H and hydrocarbyl groups.
