Provided is a load-engaging apparatus 10 that includes a balancing arm 16 for engaging tubular loads 12, 14, 15, and a load balancer assembly 18 for suspending the balancing arm 16 to the lifting gear. The balancing arm 16 further includes an elongated shank 20 that has a free end, at 22, and a stop end, at 24. In one example, the shank is in the form of an elongated circular cylindrical rod that has a diameter of about 60 mm and a length of about 1150 to 1200 mm. |
