Systems and methods are described for notifying a user of resource limits on a user device capable of executing a plurality of applications. In an exemplary method, cumulative use of a data resource by the user device is measured. A prediction is made regarding whether activation of an application is expected to cause cumulative use of the data resource to exceed a budgeted amount of data. In response to a prediction that activation of an application would cause cumulative use of the data resource to exceed a budgeted amount of data, an icon for the application is modified. For example, the icon may be greyed out to indicate the risk of exceeding the data budget. An access control may block the user from activating the application or may require acknowledgement, before activating the application, that the budget will potentially be exceeded. |
