1. A flow cytometry method or enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method for detecting diabetic nephropathy or glomerulonephritis, wherein said method comprises:
(a) performing flow cytometry or an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay using a urine sample obtained from a mammal to detect the presence of an elevated level of urinary microvesicles expressing a podocyte, parietal, mesangial, or endothelial cell marker, and (b) classifying said mammal as having diabetic nephropathy or glomerulonephritis. |
