A photoelectric conversion element (1) is provided with a first surface (10a), on which light is incident, of a semiconductor substrate (10), and a compound passivation film (6) provided on a second surface (10b) on the side opposite the first surface (10a) of the semiconductor substrate (10). The compound passivation film (6) includes a first passivation film (14) having a negative fixed charge, and a protective film (15) for protecting the first passivation film (14). The collection efficiency of a carrier on the photoelectric conversion element (1) can thus be improved.
