The invention relates to a ship having loading hatches in the region of the main deck or upper weather deck, which loading hatches can be covered with hatch covers. In particular in the case of container ships having a large number of cooling containers in a cargo space, the arising air circulation is sometimes insufficient for achieving a sufficient cooling temperature also in the cooling container. Therefore, in an improved ventilation system, closable ventilation openings are provided in the hatch covers.
