1. A method for coating a razor blade comprising the steps of:
(a) providing a substrate comprising a cutting edge; (b) applying a thin-film of a first material on the substrate by a thin-film process, wherein the thin-film has a thickness less than 1 μm after being applied; (c) nitriding the thin-film and the substrate with a nitrogen-containing gas or plasma to form: 1) a mixed nitride-thin-film interregion disposed at and adjacent a surface of the thin film and a surface of the substrate, and
2) a nitride region disposed adjacent the mixed nitride-thin-film interregion. |
