The present invention relates to apparatus and methods for stimulation and/or treatment of neural structure by high power time-varying magnetic field. The stimulation is followed by at least modulation of action potential of neural structure. The apparatus and methods may be used e.g. in physiotherapy, psychotherapy, psychiatry or addiction treatment.

A method of stimulating a patient's neural structure using a time-varying magnetic field, comprising: inducing an action potential and/or modulating the action potential, with the time-varying magnetic field applied into the neural structure and having a repetition rate exceeding at least 120 Hz; and wherein the neural structure is a peripheral neural system, spinal cord and/or a deep neural structure.
