475,515. Filters. CAIRNS, J. May 21, 1936, No. 14367. [Class 46] In a filter for rubber latex or other liquids liable to foam, of the kind in which the liquid is admitted at a relatively low level to the space within one or more filtering partitions, baffles are arranged between the point of entry and the filtering partitions to prevent the liquid from taking a radial path. As shown vertical cylindrical baffles 20, 21, are placed between the lower end of the inlet duct 6 and the filtering partitions 2, 3, both baffles extending to the base of the vessel 1 and the baffle 21 having apertures 22 below the top of the baffle 20. The partition 2 is of finer mesh than the partition 3. As shown in Fig. 1, the supply of liquid is controlled by a vertically adjustable sleeve 9 with apertures at either end which can be brought into register with similar apertures in the duct 6. The filtrate passes away through a channel 23. As shown in Fig. 3, there is a valve 16, moved by a handle 19, at the lower end of the duct 6 and the filtrate outlet comprises an adjustable weir. |
