Provided are a live iris detection method and terminal. The method comprises: acquiring a plurality of iris pictures; determining the position of a pupil centre in each iris picture in the plurality of iris pictures; according to the position of the pupil centre in each iris picture, calculating the maximum value of the displacement of the pupil centre; and according to the maximum value of the displacement of the pupil centre, determining an iris detection result. With the adoption of the embodiments of the present invention, the iris recognition accuracy and efficiency can be improved, and no harm is caused to the eyes.
