[Class 83 (iii)] An automatic lathe is built as an open machine and is provided with a supplementary part comprising a wall member which may be attached to the open part to convert it to a shoot and which also carries a work piece ejector and actuating-means. The convertible machine may be used to treat material which gives long or short cuttings. The supplementary part, Figs. 4 and 5, is secured to the machine, Fig. 1, and forms therewith a shoot b. The work-piece ejector moves in a doubleended guide f and is operated by rods g, levers i rigid with a shaft h, and on the left-hand side by a roller-ended lever k operated by a cam on the main shaft. A spring loaded bolt n returns the ejector e to its initial position. The supplementary part is left off when treating material giving long cuttings. The cuttings and work-piece fall into the trough r. In treating material giving long or medium-length cuttings, the part is used. The cuttings fall down the shaft b to the trough r and are removed by a conveyer p. The completed work is passed by the ejector e to a detachable box q. |
