506,413. Alloys. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 24, 1937, No. 23201. Void. Convention date. Aug. 24, 1936. Drawings to Specification. [Class 82 (i)] [Also in Group XL] In an electric discharge tube, particularly for use at high frequencies, the parts which maintain the spacing of the electrodes are made of materials whose coefficient of thermal expansion is less than 30 x 10<-7>. Iron alloys containing 51-60 per cent of iron, 29-35 per cent of nickel, and 7-18 per cent of cobalt are preferably used and may also be used for the anode, cathode, and grid. An alloy whose Curie point lies at the upper limit of the working temperature of the part concerned may be employed, examples being (1) 54À7 per cent of iron, 31À6 per cent of nickel, and 14 per cent of cobalt, and (2) 55À5 per cent of iron, 30À5 per cent of nickel, and 14 per cent of cobalt.
