508,121. Guided skip hoists. INTERNATIONAL COMBUSTION, Ltd., DAVIDSON, C. W., and HERBERT, S. L.. March 22, 1938, No. 8765. [Class 78 (iii)] The outlet door 2 of a receptacle 1 adapted to movein a fixed path, e.g. a skip used for winding materials in mines, is locked in its closed position against the weight of the material in the receptacle by a two-armed lever 6 pivotally mounted on the door, one arm 6a of the lever engaging a stop 9 fixed to the receptacle and the other arm 7 carrying means, such as a roller 8, adapted to co-operate with a fixed guide track 10. As the receptacle approaches the unloading point, the roller 8 enters the track 10 which rocks the lever out of engagement with the stop 9, the door then being supported by the roller and track. The shape of the track is such that, with continued upward movement of the receptacle, the movement of the roller is reversed allowing the door to open to discharge the contents of the receptacle. The door is then closed by a spring or counterweight. In the fully open position, the roller 8 lies below the opening to a vertical track leg 10a which it enters if the receptacle is overwound. The mechanism is duplicated on each side of the receptacle, the two levers 6 being mounted on the ends of a transverse shaft 5 carried in brackets 4 on the door. |
