510,140. Distilling liquids; carbon bisulphide. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP KUNSTZIJDESPINNERIJ NYMA, and DEINSE, H. VAN. Jan. 26, 1939, No. 2725. [Classes 1 (ii) and 32] [Also in Group IV] Carbon bisulphide is recovered from viscose artificial filaments by sucking a warm washing liquid through the wound material so as to vaporize the carbon bisulphide and remove it from the material, separating the vapours from the washing liquid, drawing off the vapours by means of a liquid-ring pump, and separating the condensed carbon bisulphide from the liquid used in the pump. Water may be used for the washing liquid and for the pump liquid. The liquid-ring pump is a wing pump containing an annular body of liquid acted on by centrifugal force and alternately entering channels formed in the pump casing and in the wings. The liquid-ring pump creates the necessary suction for drawing the washing liquid through the artificial silk. The washing liquid is subsequently removed by a separate pump. Most of the carbon bisulphide is condensed in the liquid of the liquid-ring pump. This liquid after leaving the pump is passed to a settling tank from the bottom of which the carbon bisulphide is withdrawn. A small condenser may be inserted behind the liquidring pump for the recovery of any carbon bisulphide which has not been condensed in the liquid of the pump.
|
