CHROMATIC ALTIMETRY CONVERTER

The converter has an illumination device including a polychromatic light source (1). A filtering device is formed with holes for filtering reflected beams to convert into filtered beams with low spectral width to form a real image with constitutive spots. The illumination device is arranged so as to cover a unit of a pre-defined observation zone. A mask (7) is arranged such that the mask occults a portion of the polychromatic light source to pass only incidental beams (48), which are distributed in extent observation zones. An independent claim is also included for a method for realizing a real image of a preset observation zone of a sample surface.
