513,213. Moulding teething-beads &c. PAGE, H. F. March 30, 1938, No. 9709. [Class 87 (ii)] Teething-beads and similar articles having apertures therethrough are made by moulding an outer shell 2 of synthetic resin or similar plastic composition under pressure around a wooden core 1 in the form of a hollow dowel, openings 3 being left in the shell in alignment with the bore of the dowel. In moulding, the wooden core may be supported and centralised in the mould by a two-part locating pin, the parts having shoulders at the ends which cause recesses 5 to be formed in the shell. The moulding is done under such conditions that the material forming the shell penetrates into the fibre of the core. |
