Pump control system

A pump system for a caravan or the like comprising a controller that monitors the current drawn by the pump and deactivates the pump when the current decreases below said one or more current threshold values. A first current threshold value corresponds to the current drawn by the pump when pumping fluid at a rate corresponding to taps being closed. A second current threshold value corresponds to the current drawn by the pump when running dry. Deactivating the pump using detected current levels prevents uneven water flow and other disadvantages associated with deactivating the pump using a pressure switch.
