A computer implemented method of analyzing a video package essence, the method comprising: receiving, by a computer, first and second video files; indexing, by a computer, the first and second video files, thereby generating an index value for each respective frame image in the first video file and generating an index value for each respective frame image in the second video file; decoding, by a computer, a selected frame of the first video file by accessing a first frame image in the first video file via the index value corresponding to the first frame image, wherein the computer decodes the selected frame of the first video file independent of the first video file, and wherein the first video file remains encoded upon decoding the selected frame of the first video file; decoding, by a computer, a selected frame of the second video file by accessing a second frame image in the second video file via the index value corresponding to the second frame image, wherein the computer decodes the selected frame of the second video file independent of the second video file, and wherein the second video file remains encoded upon decoding the selected frame of the second video file; and performing, by a computer, video quality analysis by comparing the decoded selected frame of the first video file to the decoded selected frame of the second video file.
