1. A golf bag comprising:
an elongated body having an open top end and a closed bottom end; an extensible bag stand including a retraction mechanism having a first end connected to the elongated body and a second end attached to a plurality of legs for applying a biasing force to the plurality of legs for retraction and deployment of the plurality of legs, each of the plurality of legs having one end pivotally attached to the elongated body for positioning the plurality of legs between a deployed position and a retracted position by the retraction mechanism, and a retention system including a biasing portion having a first end attached to a first portion of the elongated body and a second end attached to a second portion of the elongated body, the biasing portion being arranged such that the retraction mechanism is positioned between the elongated body and the biasing portion, wherein the biasing portion is configured to retract the retraction mechanism in response to an external force applied to the biasing portion such that the biasing portion positions and maintains the retraction mechanism substantially in the retracted position.
