The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner comprising a dirt collection container (30); a suction assembly (34); at least one filter element (48) for filtering the air suctioned out of the dirt collection container (30) by the suction assembly (34); a filter cover (52) which covers the at least one filter element (48) on the clean-area side in a covering position and which can be pivoted into a removal position in order to remove the at least one filter element (48) from the clean-area side; at least one battery receiving area (86, 88) which is arranged on the filter cover (52) side facing away from the at least one filter element (48) and in which at least one battery (90, 92) is arranged in order to provide electric energy to the suction assembly (34), wherein the at least one battery receiving area (86, 88) and the at least one battery (90, 92) are arranged in a battery compartment (96); and a battery compartment cover (98) which closes the battery compartment (96) in a closing position and which can be pivoted into an open position in order to open the battery compartment (96). The aim of the invention is to provide such a vacuum cleaner with an improved protection of the at least one battery receiving area and/or of the at least one battery against outer influences. According to the invention, this is achieved in that the vacuum cleaner (10) comprises a locking device (106) for locking the filter cover (52) in the removal position. In the open position, the top of the battery compartment cover (98) is supported on the filter cover (52) under the influence of gravity, when the filter cover assumes the removal position, and the battery compartment cover covers the at least one battery receiving area (86, 88) and/or the at least one battery (90, 92). |
