A humidification element is provided with: a plurality of humidifying bodies (20) layered in a first direction with an interval therebetween; a diffusion plate (30) extending in the first direction and being in contact with the plurality of humidifying bodies (20); and a casing for housing the plurality of humidifying bodies (20) and the diffusion plate (30). In the casing, a water-retaining section for retaining water is formed above the humidifying bodies (20). An opening is formed at the bottom of the water-retaining section. The diffusion plate (30) is inserted into the opening. The upper surface of each humidifying body (20) has a first slit (50) formed thereon extending vertically so that the diffusion plate (30) can be inserted therein and having a width narrower than the plate thickness of the diffusion plate (30). In each humidifying body (20), a second slit (51) extending in the left and/or right direction side relative to the first direction is formed at the bottom edge of the first slit (50). |
