PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesium alloy which achieves both improvement of mechanical properties and addition of corrosion resistance, or a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: A method for producing a magnesium alloy is provided, which produces a magnesium alloy containing a atom% of Zn, b atom% of Al, and c atom% of Gd, with the balance including Mg, wherein a, b, and c satisfy the following formulae (1) to (4), and the magnesium alloy includes a crystal structure having a phase which includes a long-period stacking ordered structure or a close-packed atomic face lamination defect. (1) 0.01≤a+b≤2.0, (2) 0.2≤c≤5.0, (3) 0≤a, and (4) 0<b. |
