Provided is a component mounting head for mounting a component, said mounting head being provided with: a head body; a nozzle holder that is held by the head body so as to be capable of being lifted and lowered; a suction nozzle that is fitted to a lower end of the nozzle holder so as to be movable in the vertical direction relative to the nozzle holder and holds the component by suction at the lower end of the suction nozzle; a first lifting/lowering device that lifts and lowers the nozzle holder relative to the head body; a second lifting/lowering device that lifts and lowers the suction nozzle relative to the nozzle holder; an acting force detector that detects the vertical acting force acting on the suction nozzle; and a control device that, during mounting of the component, controls the operation of the second lifting/lowering device on the basis of the acting force detected by the acting force detector. A bearing is interposed between the suction nozzle and the nozzle holder. The bearing makes it possible to reduce the resistance of the suction nozzle to vertical movement relative to the nozzle holder and appropriately control the force applied to the component during mounting of the component.
