Methods and apparatus, including computer program products, are provided for navigation systems. In some example embodiments, there is provided a method. The apparatus may include receiving, from an frequency modulated signal, traffic information; sending a short message service request message representative of a request to receive the traffic information from a backup path comprising a cellular network, when the frequency modulated signal carrying the traffic information is lost; and receiving, in response to the short message service request message, at least one short message service message including the traffic information.
