PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration in image quality due to a discharge failure and color mixture caused by adhesion of floating mist to a discharge port surface of a recording head.SOLUTION: A front side and a rear side are defined as a first discharge port array group and a second discharge port array group, respectively, when a carriage of a discharge port array of a recording head is moved in a forward direction. Recovery means is caused to perform a recovery operation on the basis of a total value of a first value obtained by multiplying the sum of ink amount discharged from the first discharge port array group when the carriage is moved in the forward direction and ink amount discharged from the second discharge port array group when the carriage is moved in the backward direction by a first coefficient and a second value obtained by multiplying the sum of ink amount discharged from the second discharge port array group when the carriage is moved in the forward direction and ink amount discharged from the first discharge port array group when the carriage is moved in the backward direction by a second coefficient smaller than the first coefficient.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5 |
