PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle speed limiting device that, when a vehicle speed sensor fails, can inhibits a situation in which an actual vehicle speed of an own vehicle exceeds a vehicle speed limit.SOLUTION: A vehicle speed limiting device limits a vehicle speed of an own vehicle, that is detected by a vehicle speed sensor, to a predetermined speed or less. The vehicle speed limiting device, when the vehicle speed sensor is not normal, on the basis of a rotation speed of an engine, that is a power source of the own vehicle, and a gear ratio of a maximum transmission gear range of a manual transmission that is provided on a power transmission path from the engine to drive wheels, calculates an estimated vehicle speed and limits the estimated vehicle speed to the predetermined speed or less or limits the rotation speed of the engine to a predetermined rotation speed or less, that corresponds to the rotation speed of the engine in the case that the own vehicle travels at the predetermined speed in a state of selecting the maximum transmission gear range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
