An apparatus for lightning protection of electrical equipment or electric power line elements is disclosed, the apparatus comprising an insulating body made using a dielectric, at least two main electrodes mechanically coupled with the insulating body, and a rod-shaped electrode set inside the insulating body (preferably along its axis) and electrically connected to one of the main electrodes. The present invention is characterized in that the insulating body comprises a main dielectric layer and a semi-conducting screen facing the rod-shaped electrode, electrical resistivity of the semi-conducting screen being lower than electrical resistivity of the main dielectric layer.
