PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle control device extending a travelable distance of EV travel using only a motor as drive source in the EV travel.SOLUTION: In a case where a transmission efficiency improvement determination part 64 determines that a transmission efficiency &eegr; (%) of an automatic transmission with a shift stage meeting drive force required by a driver is better than with a pre-shift shift stage, shifting to the shift stage meeting the required drive force is permitted so as to improve the transmission efficiency &eegr; (%) of the automatic transmission. This causes the transmission efficiency &eegr; (%) of the automatic transmission to improve, reducing an energy loss at the automatic transmission during an EV travel, thus making it possible to extend a travelable distance of EV travel in the EV travel. |
