摘要 The invention provides a finger identification apparatus for biometric personal identification based on a finger vein pattern capable of providing an optimum quality of a vein pattern without being affected by different external environments when a transmitted light is used to take pictures of the finger vein pattern. The apparatus includes light sources for irradiating light on the finger; an image pickup unit for picking up an image of the light transmitting the finger by only using an external light or using the external light and an illumination by the light source; and an operation unit for extracting the blood vessel pattern from the image picked up by the image pickup unit and executing the personal identification, and for detecting that whether the finger exists in a predetermined position, and extracting a region occupied by the finger from the image picked up by the image pickup unit, and controlling at least one of a brightness controller which changes the light source brightness and a light sensitivity controller which changes an amplification factor of image pickup elements in the image pickup unit on the basis of the extracted region internal information.
