Provided is a method for preparting 3-methylmercaptopropionaldehyde through acrolein and methyl mercaptan. A distill method is used to remove impurities and by-products reactived through the acrolein and the methyl mercaptan. The invention is characterized in that, the reaction is performed in the presence of basic amine, pKb of which is smaller than 8. The basic amine is neutralized through adding acid before distilling, and pKa of the acidis smaller than 5 and steam voltage is lowwer than 10 hPa under 20 DEG.
