The invention relates to the use of a pharmaceutical composition which comprises a zinc-hyaluronan complex as active ingredient and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier and additive for the prevention and treatment of cystitis. Therapeutic use of said composition for the treatment and prevention of cystitis - a disease associated with abnormalities and deficiencies of glucosaminoglycan layer in the urogenital system in mammals, and a kit comprising zinc hyaluronate solution, a catheter which is applicable to intravesical administration and optionally a balloon which is applicable to bladder dillatation are also within the scope of the invention.
