The invention relates to a control device for controlling a shunting conveying system which makes it possible to determine the position of a conveying carriage (20) of the conveying system in a comparatively simple and thus cost-effective manner and in a manner which is, at the same time, particularly robust in operational practice. According to the invention, the control device has, for this purpose, a stationary sensor device (30) for electronically measuring the distance (d) to a conveying carriage (20) of the conveying system.
