A method for forming a sheet of reinforced thermoplastic material comprises the step of heating the sheet to a softening temperature of the material, the step of grasping at least a first peripheral zone and a second peripheral zone of the sheet by respectively a first grasping element and a second grasping element and the step of forming the sheet between a first half mould and a second half mould. In order to minimise the risk of blemishes forming on the formed product, there is provided, during the forming step, adjusting in function of at least one process parameter, independently of one another, a first grasping force exerted by the first grasping element on the first peripheral zone, and a second grasping force exerted by the second grasping element on the second peripheral zone, so as to control a sliding of the first peripheral zone with respect to the first grasping element and of the second peripheral zone with respect to the second grasping element in function of a shape of the first half mould and of the second half mould. |
