If the instantaneous revolution speed Nm is in a zone between a first reference speed N S1 and a second reference speed N S2 within a reference time T S1 from a time at which the signal no input is an input state, the instantaneous revolution speed gives promptly 0 due to a generation of the pulse signal no input. If the instantaneous revolution speed Nm is in a zone equal to or higher than a second reference speed N S2 , a value of immediately prior revolution speed Nf is held. Thus, erroneous determinations of a line breakage of an input revolution sensor of a belt type continuous variable transmission connected to a power plant via a clutch and a belt slip can be avoided.
