Continuously preparing polymer in a polymerization device, comprises polymerizing at least one olefinically unsaturated polyether macromonomer, at least one olefinically unsaturated acid monomer and at least one radical initiator at -20- 120[deg] C. The polymerization device comprises at least one loop reactor comprising at least one supply pipe for starting materials, at least one outlet and at least one reaction zone having a volume-specific heat removal capacity of at least 10 kW/m 3>. An independent claim is also included for the polymer produced by the above method.
