PURPOSE:To provide a controller for an automatic transmission used in combination with an acceleration slip controller for preventing a vehicle from an excessive slip in the start and acceleration, which controller reflects the intention of a driver to a speed change process even during acceleration slip control (TRC). CONSTITUTION:A controller for an automatic transmission carries out the speed change process of the automatic transmission in combination with an engine performing TRC. A load average is taken out of the sub-throttle opening thetaS set by the practice of TRC and main throttle opening thetaM corresponding to an operating amount of an accelerator pedal to obtain average throttle opening thetamean according to the following formula and carry out the speed change process on the basis of the average throttle opening thetamean. thetamean=K.thetaM+ (1-K) .thetaS (provided K is a mean selection rate). |
