PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous casting method of steel capable of reliably restraining a defect such as porosity and a crunch caused by V-shaped segregation and solidification shrinkage appearing in an axial part of a continuous casting cast piece of a round cast piece and a square type cast piece small in the cross-sectional aspect ratio and also an internal crack caused by these, without using mechanical compression means.SOLUTION: When continuously casting the round cast piece or the square type cast piece of 1.4 or less in the cross-sectional aspect ratio, a static magnetic field having a component orthogonal to the axial direction of the cast piece is impressed over a section of 0.1-0.3 in a solid phase rate fs of a cast piece axial part, and electromagnetic braking force is imparted to a molten steel flow toward the downstream side, and coagulation last stage forced cooling of a specific flow rate of 0.4-0.7 L/kg-steel is applied over a section of 0.3-1.0 in the solid phase rate fs of the cast piece axial part. |
