[Class 53] In an air-depolarized cell in which the positive and negative ele ments are separated by fibrous material serving as a carrier for the electrolyte, the positive elements are in the form of perforated plates corrugated or ribbed tc provide ducts by which air can pass through the perforations to permeate the fibrous material. The negative elements are magnesium rods 2 connected in parallel by wire 3. The positive elements are corrugated plates of carbon 4 perforated at 5, adjacent plates being arranged back to back so as to form vertical air ducts open at the top to the air space 7. The fibrous material 8 extends into the air space 7. The carbon plates are connected electrically by a band of copper gauze. Cardboard tubes 16 permit water to be added ; the electrolyte comprising potassium bromide should not cover the lowest perforations 5.
