A filament retaining device 10 for a chimney and duct cleaning tool. The device comprises a socket 11 having a bore defined by a side wall of the socket and a plurality of pairs of apertures 15a disposed in the side wall. The device further comprises a plug 16 arranged to move in sliding relation within the bore of the socket 11. The plug 16 comprises a plurality of channels 17a, separated longitudinally, and alignable with a pair of apertures 15a in the side wall. The device further comprises an adjustment member 19 for adjusting a position of the plug within the bore. A filament or bristle may pass through one of the apertures in the sockets side wall, pass through a channel in the plug 16 and exit a corresponding aperture on the other side of the socket, adjusting the position of the plug secures the filament in place. |
