摘要 A method, device and system for iris acquisition using visible light imaging are claimed, suitable for use when a user is wearing spectacles. The method comprises steps of determining that a user of a mobile device is wearing glasses 208 using ambient light or projected visible light and determining the centre point 222 of a lens of the glasses. Near infra-red light (NIR) 204 is projected to illuminate at least one eye of the user ensuring it encompasses the determined centre point of the lens effective to illuminate the pupil 228 of the eye. The pupil of the eye is located based on a reflection of the NIR light from the pupil at approximately the determined centre point of the lens. The determination of the centre point and location of the pupil based on reflection of infra-red light may occur approximately simultaneously. An IR imager 108 may be activated to capture an image of the pupil for iris authentication. An alignment indicator 122 may be displayed on the mobile device to show the direction to turn the device for alignment. The device and system include LEDs 106 for NIR lighting.
