Provided are a method and apparatus for responding to a multicast message. According to the method, a multicast message is obtained, and maximum response time of the multicast message is obtained according to the multicast message; and a response message of each multicast channel among a plurality of multicast channels is evenly sent at least according to the maximum response time, wherein the plurality of multicast channels are multicast channels, each of which has a response message to be sent in response to the multicast message. By means of the solution, the problems of aging of multicast entries and interruption of channel code streams caused by the fact that a large number of Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) multicast response messages bursting within a short time possibly go beyond an IGMP message processing ability of a switch are solved, and the reliability and stability of a system are improved. |
