A pelletisation process for producing a solid polyamide comprising forming a stoichiometrically imbalanced di-carboxylic acid and a di-amine mixture in a molar ratio of greater than 1:1, e.g. 60:40, 95:5, 75:25, 80:20, 90:10, heating the mixture to form a melt and cooling to form the solid polyamide. The pelletisation process is preferably controlled by control of the moisture in the melt, the mixture residence time in the melt, the molar ratio or the surface temperature of the melt. |
