The present invention provides an Fe(II) ion detection agent capable of fluorescently detecting Fe(II) ions quickly with high sensitivity, and a method for detecting Fe(II) ions using the agent. The invention relates to an Fe(II) ion detection agent comprising a compound represented by formula (I) (fluorescence probe):
