The method comprises the steps: allocating an area of the transport plane (110) as a buffer area (160), wherein the buffer area (160) is adapted to store a variable number of sample container carriers (140), and controlling the buffer area (160) using a puzzle-based control scheme or using an aisle-based control scheme as a function of a storage density of the buffer area (160). |
