The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel phenol compound which has a superior affinity to fluorine-containing polymers and fluorine-containing solvents. This phenol compound is represented by formula (1) (in formula (1), R 1 and R 2 each independently represent an alkyl group having 1-12 carbon atoms; A represents an alkylene group having 1-2 carbon atoms; X represents an alkylene group which has 1-3 carbon atoms, and which may include a hydroxyl group; and Y represents a straight-chain perfluoroalkyl group having 4-12 carbon atoms).
