[Class 2 (iii)] Coumarone and polymers thereof, e.g. di-, tri-, and tetracoumarone, are reacted with fatty acid chlorides containing at least twelve carbon atoms in the presence of a metallic (e.g. aluminium) chloride, which is subsequently removed by hydrolysis. Fatty acid chlorides specified are lauryl, myristyl, palmityl, stearyl, oleyl, linoleyl, and linolenyl chlorides and mixtures thereof, lard fatty acid chlorides, and chlorides of acids obtained by oxidation of paraffin wax or other hydrocarbons. The products may be used as di-electrics or insulation, for moulding, or for coating compositions. |
