The present invention provides a linear motor having high thrust and with which it is possible to reduce cogging. A stator 1 is provided with a plurality of core units 21a, 21b, 21c in the stroke direction. Each of the core units 21a, 21b, 21c is provided with a first core 31 having a first magnetic pole 34a and a second magnetic pole 34b differing in polarity from the first magnetic pole 34a, coils 41a, 41b wound round the first core 31, a second core 32 having a third magnetic pole 35a and a fourth magnetic pole 35b differing in polarity from the third magnetic pole 35a, and coils 42a, 42b wound around the second core 32. The third magnetic pole 35a faces the first magnetic pole 34a, and the fourth magnetic pole 35b faces the second magnetic pole 34b. Movable elements 2 are sandwiched between the first magnetic pole 34a and the third magnetic pole 35a, and between the second magnetic pole 34b and the fourth magnetic pole 35b. |
