PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of measuring temperature distribution of a cast metal by which temperature distribution in a cast metal width direction is obtained, by identifying a position of a width-direction end of the cast metal.SOLUTION: The method of measuring temperature distribution of the cast metal is provided for measuring width-direction temperature distribution in a surface of a cast metal 10 in continuous casting. The method comprises: arranging a measuring part 12 of a temperature measuring device 11 in a position where a distance from the measuring part 12 to the cast metal 10 is 1-4 m in the thickness direction of the cast metal 10 and also 400-1,400 mm in the width direction of the cast metal 10; searching a temperature area A which is nearest to a temperature measuring device 11 and where temperature distribution T along the width direction of the cast metal 10 obtained by measurement of the temperature measuring device 11 is formed in a crest shape and has a maximum temperature exceeding 600°C; identifying a temperature area B which is distant from the temperature measuring device 11 more than the temperature area A in the temperature distribution T and where the temperature distribution T is formed in a trough shape nearest to the temperature area A in the temperature distribution T, and has a minimum temperature being lower by 50°C or more than the maximum temperature of the temperature area A; and determining that the width-direction end of the cast metal 10 is positioned in a minimum temperature position of the temperature area B. |
